GEARGRINDER Announces Designation as Official Casual Clothing Supplier of Team Type 1

Glendale, WI - Cycling Inspired Apparel company GEARGRINDER has announced its designation as Official Casual Clothing Supplier of professional cycling team Team Type 1.

"We are very pleased that Team Type 1 has chosen the GEARGRINDER brand to outfit its athletes and support its team with cycling inspired, trend right styles for their off-the-bike clothing needs," said GEARGRINDER CEO Paul Weaver.

Athletes on the various Team Type 1 squads, including Pro Men, Pro Women, Elite/Developmental, and Triathlon, will wear GEARGRINDER clothing throughout the 2009 season on the podium beginning with the 2009 Amgen Tour of California, the race billed as "America's largest and most prestigious cycling event".

Weaver said the partnership with Team Type 1 is a perfect fit.

"GEARGRINDER's products are made for people who are inspired by the sport of cycling, and Team Type 1 is using that same inspiration to raise awareness and help people living with diabetes," said Weaver.  "The philosophy behind our brand is to support enterprises that use the bicycle to improve the health, welfare and safety of people, and Team Type 1 definitely is doing that in a very effective way."

One of only 17 teams racing in the 2009 Amgen Tour of California, which will cover nearly 750 miles over nine days starting February 14, Team Type 1 is the only professional cycling team in the world with a mission to spread inspiration to those affected by diabetes.  Team Type 1 riders Phil Southerland and Fabio Calabria will be the first racers with Type 1 diabetes to ever participate in the Tour of California.

"Team Type 1 loves the GEARGRINDER clothing," said Team Type 1 General Manager Tom Schuler.  "Everyone who sees it wants the Team Type 1 Podium jacket."

The GEARGRINDER Podium jacket, with its large chest and back pockets complemented with an extended tail and reflective piping for improved night visibility, combines on-bike functionality with off-bike versatility and style. For Team Type 1 riders, the larger pockets make for easy storing and access of their nutrition as well as diabetes test strips and FreeStyle® Navigator system.

Team Type 1 rider Tim Powell concurred, "The Podium jacket is absolutely first class . . . it fits, feels and looks great!"

Team Type 1 riders will also be sporting GEARGRINDER's latest release, the Vintage, for which the 1951 Tour de France Hugo Koblet Yellow Jersey was the design inspiration.

"It's a great opportunity to provide casual wear to a team of 75 strong who all support such a great mission," said Weaver.  "While are we exposing our brand, we are so proud to be supporting Team Type 1 athletes who dedicate countless hours and energy participating in events worldwide such as Race Across America and Tour de Cure...such an inspiration to those who have diabetes and even those who do not (have diabetes)."
